For this assignment, we selected a city in the world and created a city emblem or logo to represent it. I selected the city of Valletta, the capital city of Malta, an island in the Mediterranean.
design rationale
Valletta is a beautiful city surrounded by a gorgeous aqua sea. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. Catholicism remains the predominate religion. I selected Christian symbols to incorporate into the logo, such as the anchor which represents hope and the cross, representing faith. These symbols combined with the imagery of a knight that represents those who established the city and fought various historical battles, lead me to the visual solution.
